Reliable water repellency with reactive Si-H chemistry
SilibaseMH-8484 is a high-efficiency, anhydrous silicone fluid based on polymethylhydrogensiloxane and end-capped with trimethylsiloxy groups. It can form a thin, continuous cured film on fine particles or substrates to improve water repellency, dryness and anti-caking performance.
For gypsum board and plaster products, it is normally added to the mixing or gauging water rather than used as a surface treatment. It is also suitable for powders, textiles and sealing parts, and can act as a reactive component in silicone crosslinking systems. Dosage and curing conditions should be confirmed by application trials.
Core technical specifications
Hydrogen content of 1.58–1.60% and flash point of >160°C follow the confirmed commercial specification; the other values reference the supplied TDS. Batch release must use the applicable signed COA.

Alternative evaluation against widely searched market grades
The comparison below summarizes the four supplied TDS documents for product search, sourcing and sample evaluation. It does not state that the specifications are identical.
Momentive TSF484
Common search termsTSF484 equivalent · TSF484 alternative · silicone hydride fluid
- TDS product family
- Silicone hydride fluid
- Supplied TDS evidence
- The TDS highlights excellent water repellency with moderate softness but does not publish viscosity or hydrogen-content values.
- MH-8484 evaluation point
- Evaluate by product family and water-repellent use, then reconcile the latest TDS and batch COA for both materials.
WACKER SILRES BS 94
Common search termsSILRES BS 94 alternative · SILRES BS94 replacement · BS 94 equivalent
- TDS product family
- Anhydrous polymethylhydrogensiloxane
- Supplied TDS evidence
- For integral water repellency in plaster and plasterboard; reference dosage 0.2-0.4%; dynamic viscosity 15-25 mPa·s at 25°C; flash point 115°C.
- MH-8484 evaluation point
- The application route is closely related, but flash point, volatile content and specification ranges differ from MH-8484.
BLUESIL WR 68
Common search termsBLUESIL WR 68 alternative · WR68 replacement · methyl hydrogeno polysiloxane
- TDS product family
- Methyl hydrogeno polysiloxane
- Supplied TDS evidence
- For plaster, boards and dry-sprayed powders; reference dosage 0.2-0.5%; viscosity about 25 mm²/s at 25°C; closed-cup flash point about 110°C.
- MH-8484 evaluation point
- Relevant for gypsum and powder hydrophobing comparisons; formulation compatibility, hydrogen risk and process conditions require trials.
XIAMETER MHX-1107 20 CST / 30 CST
Common search termsMHX-1107 alternative · DC1107 equivalent · Dow Corning MHX-1107 replacement
- TDS product family
- Polymethylhydrogensiloxane, 20 CST / 30 CST
- Supplied TDS evidence
- The 20/30 CST grades list viscosity at 18-24 / 20-40 mm²/s, Si-H as H at 1.55-1.66% / 1.40-1.75%, and flash point at ≥150°C / 93°C.
- MH-8484 evaluation point
- MH-8484 at 1.58-1.60% hydrogen and 15-40 mm²/s can be screened alongside these grades, but it is not a one-to-one specification copy.
Momentive, TSF, WACKER, SILRES, BLUESIL, XIAMETER, Dow Corning and the referenced grade names belong to their respective owners. Silibase is not affiliated with or authorized by those brands. The words alternative, replacement and equivalent are search and technical-evaluation terms only; they do not claim an original, identical or trial-free one-to-one substitute.
Source editions: TSF484 (2014-12-18), SILRES BS 94 v1.4 (2014-11-10), BLUESIL WR 68 (2011-07), and XIAMETER MHX-1107 (2012-03-29). Purchasing and acceptance must use the latest TDS, SDS and batch COA for each product.
Alternative selection FAQ
Can SilibaseMH-8484 be evaluated as an alternative to TSF484, SILRES BS 94, BLUESIL WR 68 or MHX-1107?
They belong to the same or a closely related silicone hydride / polymethylhydrogensiloxane family and overlap in gypsum and powder water-repellent uses, so comparative sample testing is appropriate. Specifications and process conditions are not identical.
